What is Global Village?
“I have a vision of the world as a global village, a world without boundaries.”
Christa McAuliffe, astronaut
There seems to be confusion about what is meant by the term “Global Village”. According to National Geographic: “Global Village: The “global village” is shorthand for the world connected by electronic devices, such as smart phones or the Internet.”
This is NOT the Global Village we are referring to here.
Here, Global Village is the world of our future, the world our great-grandchildren will grow up in.
It runs on almost polar opposite rules to the ones of the world we grew up in.
However, its existence is not mutually exclusive with our current world, but rather an evolutionary phase beyond it. Even now, it exists in every life form on Earth, in our DNA. We’ve all experienced moments when we’ve had a taste of it: in those breathtaking moments that remind us of our true nature: interdependence.
Global Village represents life when things actually work as intended, supporting a high quality of life for all life on the planet.
